ROOMS
Creativity and comfort are combined to luxurious effect when it comes to sleeping at Shishi-Iwa House Karuizawa. All rooms – 11 in SSH No.01 and 12 in SSH No.02 – share contemporary interiors designed by Shigeru Ban, blending his original furniture, lighting and fixtures with curated collections of contemporary artworks, bespoke white bedding, deluxe Ploh towels and organic biodegradable amenities. Guests have access to all facilities in both SSH No.01 and SSH No.02, which are just a minute apart on foot.

SSH No.01
STANDARD
Located on the first floor, these rooms measure around 15.5 square meters in size and open directly onto a private garden terrace spanning 7.5 square meters. With one double bed, made up in luxury linens, these are perfect for one person, or as an additional bedroom for traveling families. The bathroom has a shower and organic biodegradable amenities.

SSH No.01
CLASSIC
Comfortable and spacious with clean-lined crafted wood details, these rooms either have a large private garden terrace at ground level – or beautiful Mount Asama views from the upper level. All rooms, which average around 25 square meters, have queen-size beds with Ploh linens, Shigeru Ban-designed fixtures, showers and window-side bathtubs.

SSH No.02
CLASSIC
Serene havens of crafted timber, each room – measuring 20 square meters - is home to a private garden terrace and a hand-made hinoki cypress wood bathtub with organic biodegradable amenities plus a shower. Rooms are available in either king or twin sizes, with bespoke artist-made textiles hanging above the beds.

SSH No.01
SUPERIOR
These rooms offer a signature showcase of Shigeru Ban’s design. Floating among the treetops, these upper level rooms have walls of glass and a private terrace with views of forests or Mount Asama plus queen-size beds. Rooms are either 30 square meters in size, with a shower and bathtub – or 20 square meters, with a special handcrafted hinoki cypress wood bathtub.
