SSH is expanding rapidly. Ryue Nishizawa and Kazuyo Sejima are among a growing roll call of top Japanese architects currently working on new SSH properties opening soon across Japan.

SSH No.03 by Ryue Nishizawa, Karuizawa. Opening 2023

Further bolstering Karuizawa’s status as an architectural hub, SSH No.3, designed by award-winning architect Ryue Nishizawa, reflects an innovative contemporary riff on Japan’s traditional sukiya teahouse-style architecture, using hinoki cypress wood.

SSH No.04 by Kazuyo Sejima, Hakone. Opening 2024

Shishi-Iwa House Hakone, our second retreat, will soon open, just outside Tokyo. Here, center stage among rugged mountains and dense forests, will be SSH No.04 by Kazuyo Sejima, the award-winning Japanese architect and co-founder with Ryue Nishizawa of Tokyo-based SANAA.
